I was born, raised, and lived most of my life in Windom, Minnesota. My two married sons, Ben and Paul and their wives, still live in Minnesota, as does my older brother, Corky who was owner of Windom Tire & Fleet until retiring after selling to Runnings. My sister, Betty, retired Foreign Service Staff Officer with U.S. Department of State, lives in Fearrington Village, North Carolina.
Before beginning my career as a full-time country western singer/entertainer, I was a real estate broker and auctioneer, and co-owner of Soleta-Byam Real Estate Exchange, Inc., in Windom. It was in 1990 that I decided to make use of my 25+ years in the country entertainment field, and I began to pursue a full-time career in country music. Since becoming a full-time entertainer, I have entertained audiences in Branson, Mo., Apache Junction, Mesa and Phoenix, Az., Deadwood, SD., and many other locations in Minnesota, Iowa, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Wyoming (to name but a few of the states). While working in Branson, you may have seen and heard me at Mel’s (Tillis’) Mole Hole Lounge, Crockey’s, Pzazz, Tommy’s, Ye Ole English Inn, Bev’s Steakhouse and Lounge, the Loft at Roy Clark’s Theater, Key Largo in Springfield, Mo., or the Eagles Clubs in Shell Knob and Cape Fair, Mo.
For the past Twenty winters, I have been traveling to Arizona, where I continue to entertain local residents and winter visitors. The venues for my shows are 16 years at Arizona Joe’s (Closed in Feb 2010) in Apache Junction, as well as 10 years at American Legion Post #27 in Apache Junction. I performed at Joe/Jo’s in East Mesa for 10 years. I will continue to entertain at Spirits in Mesa for my 6th year. In the spring I will return to my adopted home state of South Dakota where I will be performing for my 7th year at The Gas Light Lounge and Supper Club in Rockerville, SD.
In the past, I have opened shows for many well-known country
entertainers: Tom T. Hall, Jerry Reed, Ronnie McDowell, Freddy Fender,
Johnny Paycheck, Doug Supernaw Billy “Crash” Craddock, Holly Dunn and Johnny
Rodriguez. Guests who have appeared on my show include Luther Nallie
and Dale Warren (Members of The Sons of The Pioneers); Jennifer Wilson
(of the Jennifer in the Morning Show in Branson); the late Dave Dudley
(former Grand Ole Opry star (who recorded “Six Days On The Road”), and
Charlie Ryan (performer and writer of the country classic “Hot Rod Lincoln.
